Restaurants Bring Support to Wappingers Fire Victims

What are you doing this weekend? Well, fuggedaboutit!

Change of plans.

A fire last week on Wappinger’s Falls Main Street, has brought together a group of local business owners putting on a variety of benefits for those displaced by the fire.

First up, a breakfast Saturday morning from 9-12 hosted by West Main Kitchen & Bar at the fire station across the street from the restaurant (5 School Street). All proceeds from the breakfast will be donated.

Sunday morning, line up to get tattooed! Yes, Graceland Tattoo is having a one-day-only tattoo walk-up starting at 10:30 (but you’ll want to get there early).

Their artists will be offering select flash designs with proceeds going to those immediately affected by the catastrophic fire. They will have raffles and will happily accept cash or gift card donations for those who cannot or do not wish to get tattooed. They say “Tattoos are 1st come 1st served. We strongly suggest people to line up early as we are all hoping for a really great turn out.”

Their neighbor, and "sister business" County Fare will be donating a portion of Sunday’s sales to the cause as well. Graceland Tattoo is at 2648 E Main St., Wappingers Falls. To donate, stop by the shop or call 845-297-3001.

If you really can’t change this weekend’s plans, The Wappingers Historical Society is hosting an evening of drinks and hors d’oeuvres at Mesier Homestead on June 16th from 6-8 pm catered by Simply Gourmet. Tickets are available at mesierhomestead@brownpapertickets.com.

Or for a taste of summer, how about a clambake on June 17th?

The Naturals and AJ Café are teaming up to bring you all-you-can-eat clams and beer from 4:00 PM to midnight at AJ Café 2557 South Ave, Wappingers Falls. The Naturals will be playing from 5:00 and there will be more raffles from local businesses.

So, this week, HVEats Heroes are all the businesses and organizations in Wappingers giving back to their neighbors and all the neighboring businesses donating items for the raffles.

If you’d like to be a hero, go get a tattoo, buy some raffle tickets (available at Graceland Tattoo and County Fare as of June 6th) or show your support by heading to one of the events going on in Wappingers and/or donating to the GoFundMe page.
