Small Batch, Made from Scratch - Cardoso Cookies

Who doesn’t love a cookie?

Easier to eat than a cupcake and a lot more versatile, cookies are a perfect sweet.

In 2015, Owner Anthony Cardoso, a CIA grad was looking for a food based business.

He was at a farmers’ market when it hit him--there was nothing there for kids and everyone loves cookies.

He decided to start Cardoso’s Cookies--small batch cookies you can buy online or at farmers markets and fairs throughout the Hudson Valley.

His goal? To provide the best cookies possible, made from scratch with no preservatives or artificial ingredients.

“You don’t want to compromise quality ever.”

The best news? If you have a cookie craving in the middle of the night, no need to wait for the next farmers’ market, just go to his website and place an order.

But how do they taste?

His chocolate chip cookies took home the People’s Choice Award for best chocolate chip cookie at a local Chili Festival.

There are 10-14 different flavored cookies on his website along with some gluten free and vegan varieties. Since he bakes to order, he can customize to accommodate allergies or preferences.

Anthony was kind enough to give us some to try out (it’s a hard job, but…).

Move over Girl Scouts, the Thick Mints were amazing! Callebaut chocolate from Belgium make these so much better.

If you are a shortcake fan you will love the Birthday Cake Cookies. Two shortbread cookies sandwiching vanilla cream and held together with a drizzle of chocolate.

For chocolate lovers, the Bittersweet Brownie is sure to satisfy your craving. Moist and oh, so chocolatey! These were my personal favorite.

With your coffee in the morning, the Crumb Cake Cookies are the perfect fit. Just dunk and enjoy.

The S’mores Cookies with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and crushed graham crackers will bring you back around the campfire.

Classic Linzer Cookies are made with local raspberry jam from Eleanor’s Best jams in Garrison.

His most popular?

The Cookie Dough Truffle—his chocolate chip cookie dough wrapped in chocolate. Be quick, this one sells out at farmers’ markets

The newest addition? Edible Cookie dough in three flavors, Classic Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, and Brownie Batter, safe to eat and complete with a spoon.

Cardoso Cookies make perfect gift for so many different occasions, birthdays, as a thank you or for the holidays. They are also very popular with companies who want to give clients or employees a personalize gift.

They ship around the country but if you are local they offer, at least for now, free delivery.

Check out their Facebook page for events and markets where you can find them, or go to their website and have a batch delivered.

Say hi to Anthony and tell him you read about him on HudsonValleyEATS.com
